How we describe a stone
Weight and size. Carat weight is taken from the laboratory report and given to two decimal places. Dimensions are length × width × depth in millimetres, so you can judge how the stone will sit in a setting.
Certification. Every stone here is certified, and the report is photographed as the last image on its page. Where a laboratory has not graded something, we leave the field empty rather than fill it in.
Treatment. Heated means the stone has been heat-treated to improve colour or clarity. This is normal and accepted in the trade, and it is stated on every listing. Unheated means no heat has been applied, and we only say so where the report supports it.
Colour. Colour on a screen is never exact. We photograph every stone under the same daylight-balanced light and describe the colour in words as well, using the laboratory's own term where one is given.
How do I know a stone is genuine?
Every stone is sold with a report from an independent gem laboratory: IGLC, PGTL or LGL Gemlab. The report is the last photograph on the stone's page. Scan the QR code on the report card, or use the Verify this report link where the page has one, to check it on the laboratory's own website.
Has the stone been treated?
Each listing states treatment exactly as its report does: heated, unheated, or not stated on the report. A stone is only called unheated where its report says no heating was detected.
How is my stone shipped?
By FedEx or EMS (Sri Lanka Post's express mail), tracked and insured for the full value of the stone.
How long does delivery take?
It depends on where you live. You will receive a tracking number when your stone ships.
Who pays import duties and taxes?
You do. Duties and taxes are charged by your country when the parcel arrives, and they are not included in our prices or shipping.
Where do you ship?
To most countries in Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. The checkout shows whether we deliver to your address.
Can I return a stone?
No. Every stone is one of a kind and is described from its laboratory report, so all sales are final. Please read the report before you buy.
